I use this page to explain what Pillow Math keeps when you use the calculators, read an article, join the optional UP beta waitlist or send a message through the contact form. There is no account to make and nothing to buy.

What is stored on your device

The calculators let you switch between a 12-hour and a 24-hour clock. That choice is saved in your browser's local storage as pillowmath:hour12 so it stays put the next time you open a tool.

When you set an alarm, the alarm tool saves it in local storage as pillowmath:alarm so a reload does not lose it: the alarm time, the label you typed, whether sums stop it, the snooze length and when it rings next. It is removed when you stop or cancel the alarm. Setting an alarm also asks your browser for permission to show a notification when it rings, and your browser shows that notification itself.

The alarm tool also installs a small service worker. It keeps the alarm pages and the site's script, style and icon files in your browser's cache, under pillowmath-alarm-v1, so the alarm opens without a connection. It sends nothing anywhere and has no push messages. None of this leaves your device, and clearing your browser data removes it.

The cookie banner sets two cookies on this site. termsbox_consent holds the choice you made, and termsbox_visitor holds a random visitor ID. Both last one year. The banner also keeps a copy of its own settings and your approximate country and region in local storage, so it does not have to look them up on every page.

UP beta waitlist

If you join the optional UP beta waitlist, I collect your email address to send you one notification when the beta opens.

The signup form sends your email address, the page path and a hidden spam-check field to a Cloudflare Worker. Cloudflare also receives your IP address and browser details with the network request.

The Worker stores your email address with spaces trimmed and letters made lowercase, the signup time, an IP address hash and an optional source page path in Cloudflare KV. It creates the hash with unsalted SHA-256. A hash is not anonymous data. The signup record does not contain your raw IP address or the hidden spam-check field.

Signup records have no automatic expiry or deletion job. They remain indefinitely unless manually deleted.

Separate counters use the IP hash to limit signup attempts. These counters expire one hour after their last write. That expiry does not remove the hash stored in a signup record.

Contact form

The contact form sends your email address, your message and a hidden spam-check field to a Cloudflare Worker. Cloudflare also receives your IP address and browser details with the network request.

The Worker stores your email address with spaces trimmed and letters made lowercase, your message as you wrote it and the time it arrived in Cloudflare KV. It stores no IP address, no IP hash and no page path with the message.

Messages are deleted automatically after 90 days. I use your email address only to answer you. Please leave out health or medical details.

To limit messages to three an hour, the Worker counts attempts under an unsalted SHA-256 hash of your IP address. As with the waitlist, the hash is not anonymous data. These contact form counters expire one hour after their last write.

The cookie consent banner

Every page loads a script from TermsBox (termsbox.com). Your browser fetches it from TermsBox's servers, which see your IP address and browser details, as any web server does. The script looks up your approximate country and region and asks which cookies you allow. It stores your answer in the cookies above.

When you choose, the banner sends TermsBox a record of that choice. The record holds your visitor ID, the cookie categories you allowed, whether your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, and your approximate country and region. The Cookie settings button at the bottom of every page opens the banner again, so you can change your answer.

Analytics and advertising

The site runs no analytics and no advertising scripts.

Amazon links

There are no Amazon links on the site today. If pages later link to Amazon through the Amazon Associates program, those pages will say so. Amazon sets its own cookies on its own site, under its own privacy policy.

What the site does not do

Nothing here asks for your name or payment details. The site has no checkout or comment system, and I do not sell personal data.

The full policies

The full privacy policy, cookie policy and disclaimer are published on this site. The terms of use page links to the full terms.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top updates. The goal here is to tell you plainly what happens, not to bury it.
